Zdenka is an eclectic conflux of musical styles that will excite and challenge you with influences as varied as King Crimson, McCoy Tyner, Brian May, Tony Williams, Karlheinz Stockhausen, the Beatles, John Mayall, Weather Report, John Coltrane, Steely Dan and Todd Rundgren. The music encompasses biting social satire, spiritual yearning, and explorations of love, desire and longing while featuring improvisations that range from rock, funk and jazz to the experimental.
The four soloists, including two Berklee alumni on multiple horns and percussion, searing electric guitar and supple rhythm section combine with the keyboardist's bluesy lead vocals, complimented by the soulful gospel/rock harmonies of the two female members of the group. Recorded on classic analogue 16 track 2" tape and mastered digitally, the sound is warm and detailed.
